Pumpkin Junction

In Knightstown the old train depot is now used for fun rides for the community. Each fall they have "pumpkin runs" and take children on a short train ride and then let them pick out a pumpkin. Last Friday, Terry and I took the boys to ride the train, we had been talking to Karter about it all week, so when he saw the train he was pretty excited!!
We boarded the train and quickly realized that we would not want to ride the train for long distance, the seats were very close together and didn't offer much leg room...but it was perfect for Karter and Kaden's little legs.

Kaden loved being able to people watch...

...and Karter loved checking out the view from his window.

After the train started down the track, the conductor came to punch our tickets.

The ride was about 22 minutes down to Carthage, and then they unhooked the engine and put it on the other end to take us back to Knightstown.

The stop came at the perfect time to let us get out and stretch our legs. It was pretty hard to keep Karter and Kaden contained for 22 minutes!!

To pass the time we let the boys try to walk the tracks...Kado needs a little practice actually walking on the track!

Once the engine was hooked back up, it was time to head back and stop at "Pumpkin Junction".

About halfway back to Knightstown they have a field that they have put a bunch of pumpkins and each kid gets to pick one to take home.

Karter is a very decisive boy and walked right over to the two he wanted (one for him and one for Kaden). I have no clue what I was doing!!

Karter had a blast on the train...

...and Gramaw and I had fun hanging out with the boys!!

Family Photo Shoot

A few months back, when we were still living in MN, we scheduled our family pictures at Target for October 16th. Obviously we had to cancel that appointment, and instead enlisted the help of our favorite family photographer (Terry) for our family photo shoot. The weather was beautiful last Saturday and the leaves at Memorial Park in New Castle made the perfect backdrop for our fall photos. I still have some editing to do, but I love how these pictures turned out and couldn't wait to share them!
I have been having some issues with blogger the past couple of days, so I am unable to move the pictures or add any captions...but lets face it, you only want to look at the pictures anyway!

He's a Lover

Kaden is a mama's boy. If he sees me across the room he instantly crawls towards me and if I leave the room he cries like his little world is coming to an end...it may have something to do with the fact that he knows I'm his main food source, but it also because he loves his mama!

He proves his love everyday with the best baby kisses in the world! He may be a little rough and leave my face covered in slobber, but I love it!

And occasionally he lets me give him a smooch or two!!

8 1/2 Months!

In the midst of our lives getting turned upside down, Mr. Kaden turned 8 months old. We were so busy that week making arrangements for our upcoming move that we didn't have time to post...but that didn't stop our cute baby from growing up!

In addition to mastering the art of crawling, Kaden has also started to pull himself up on just about anything that isn't moving. His favorite thing to practice on is the stairs, and he is pretty close to being able to crawl onto the first step...he sure tries hard!

He loves to show off his new skills...and then make sure everyone is watching him!

Another trick he has learned is how to clap. We cheer for big brother so much that he has finally learned how to clap...and now Karter says "Yay, baby brother!" To get him to clap you just have to sing his favorite song, pat-a-cake.

This month he has really started to be interested in table food. Usually he will eat his two containers of baby food and then want to eat whatever we are having. So far we haven't found anything that he doesn't like...this boy loves to eat!! We've also been trying to get him to use a sippy cup more often, but that is still a work in progress.

Kaden is having a little bit of trouble adjusting to our move in the sleeping department. He hasn't been napping very well and wakes up several times in the night. We are trying to let him work it out himself, but it is heart breaking to listen to him cry.

Kaden is always changing and surprises us with new tricks all of the time! Happy 8 (1/2) months!!

Apple Picking

Our last weekend in Minnesota, instead of spending the whole time packing, we decided to spend a little quality time together...just the 4 of us! We spent Sunday morning at a local apple orchard.

Karter was a big fan of the petting zoo. He was excited because we had him put a few quarters in his pocket to use to buy the feed.

After scrubbing our hands down, we all had some tasty apple donuts...yum!

Then is was time for the main even...picking apples. The whole time we were picking Karter was running around, and kept asking to go back to the ducks.

While Kristoffer was paying for the apples, I took the boys to the pumpkin patch. All I wanted was to get one good picture of each of them with the pumpkins....is that too much to ask for!? Of course, Karter wasn't having it...

...but Kaden was all smiles!!

What a cutie pie!

We had a great family outing enjoying the cool fall air!
