Eat or Sleep!?

The boys are always worn out on Monday's. Getting back to our normal weekly routine is sometimes hard after a fun weekend with Daddy. Yesterday we did our normal routine (of going to the Y and Krogering!), but Kaden was dragging most of the morning. During lunch the poor boy couldn't decide if he should eat or sleep. He was eating really good (and being his normal demanding/noisy eater), so I got up to clean the kitchen. When it got quiet I turned around to find out why...and he was sleeping!! This was something that he has never done before....he loves to eat too much!!

Karter thought it was hilarious that Kaden was asleep in his chair, so he had to "sleep" too!

I couldn't resist taking a little video of Kaden. He was so funny eating while he was sleeping!!

New Shoes For Mr. Chubby Feet

Kaden has the chubbiest little feet and we have been all over creation trying to find an affordable pair of shoes for him. The poor boy couldn't fit his big feet in any shoes I could find. Gramaw took pitty on the poor boy and decided to take him to a specialty children's shoe store in Muncie. The store was great, knowledgeable sales staff, tons of shoes, and toys to entertain big brother!

To start off our salesman measured Kado's foot...size 5 1/2 EEE. He has extra, extra wide feet...no wonder we couldn't find any shoes at a regular store!!!

When your feet are 5 1/2 EEE, your options are very limited! But we did find two really cute pairs for him.

He wasn't sure what to think when he first had them on. He sat down and pulled on them and gave us this look like, "what in the world did you put on my feet!"

We got a brown pair and a pair of tennis shoes, the woman said they would hopefully last through the summer! We are hoping his feet will slim down with all the walking running he's doing now!!!

Sweet Boy

You wouldn't know it by looking at these pictures, but yesterday morning Kaden was a GRUMP!! He has been battling a little tummy issue for the past four days, and it has made for some bad moods and interesting diaper changes. Lets just say, yesterday morning I had to change his crib sheet 3 times before 10 am!! (Why are crib sheets always a tad too small!?)

Since it had been going on so long, I called the doctor and she said not to worry unless it goes on for 7 full days. She instructed me to put him on a high starch diet and limit his fruits until he is back to normal. She said to make him lots of pasta, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese...too bad I wasn't put on the same diet!

He was loving his pasta lunch yesterday and it really cheered him up. Karter thought Kaden was feeling better and said I should take his picture! When Karter says that I should take a picture, I better listen!!

He even let me take one of him!! Karter cracks me up...when Kaden had spaghetti all over his face he said, "lets call him spaghetti face"! He thought it was pretty funny too!!

"Please mama, no more pictures!"
Look close at that picture and you can see his 5th tooth popping through on the top...that doesn't help his attitude some days!
I'm ready for Kaden to feel better and get back to his sweet self. He is turning in to quite to lover...he gives great hugs, likes to snuggle up in my lap (briefly) and gives kisses when you ask! Here is a little self video I made last week of my little lover...

New Lunch

We had a first for lunch today...PB&J! I can't believe Karter is nearly 3 and this was his first pb&j! We were having fun outside (well Kaden wasn't having that much fun) so to make coming inside sound a little more appealing to Karter, I said he could pick out a couple cookie cutters to us on his sandwich. He loves playing with my cookie cutters, and my trick worked like a charm! After we spread them all out, he picked a star for himself.
He was pretty excited to be able to "help" make lunch.

After a little taste test, it was time to pick out Kaden's.

Karter decided Kaden would like a fish.

I have one cute little kitchen helper!!

Lunch was definitely a hit today, and we will be having more pb&j's around here!!

Making a Joyful Noise to the Lord

Karter has always had a love for music, and he has the most precious little voice when he sings. In our van we always listen to "Karter Music", which consists of a lot of children's songs and a couple children's CD's with praise songs on them. The praise songs are his favorite CD's and he loves to sing along to them. It warms my heart to hear him sing praise to the Lord, and he turned me to mush the other day when he said, "I love Jesus!" after one song. I credit listening to these CD's daily, but mostly his wonderful Sunday School teach Miss Peggy. She is a wonderful Christian woman who loves to share her love for the Lord with anyone, especially the little children of our church!
Karter has been singing some new songs lately, and willingly allowed Gramaw to video tape him yesterday morning. Enjoy Karter's Praise Songs....

Happy Birthday, Dana!

On March 3rd (I know it's been a while), Dana celebrated her 28th birthday! On her birthday, we did go out to Benihana's...which was quite the experience with two toddlers. But, we had to really celebrate with some dessert at some point with our family.

So...on March 5th, we celebrated with some angel food cake and strawberries for my angel - how fitting!

After dinner, I lit the candles on the angel food cake with the two little ones watching my every move. Karter watched in anxious anticipation...Kaden...well...let's call it apprehension.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Now...blow out your candles!! Kaden still has that look of "uh-oh" in his eyes as his thoughts venture back to his birthday. And his hot finger after touching a recently "blown" candle himself...

The pictures are a little out of order, but here is Mommy with her two pride and joys.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABE!! I love you - and I can't wait to spend so many more birthday moments like this together...

Saving For A Rainy Day

When we were pregnant with Karter, someone gave us this little silver piggy bank. From the day we got it, any loose change we had went into the bank. Not much gets pat Karter, and he quickly picked up on putting money into the bank. When he passed the stage of putting everything in his mouth, we let him start putting his own money in and even taking money out just to put it back in. When we lived in MN it was a great way to occupy him for a bit. Kaden was way to little to get into the loose change, and Karter loved putting money in his piggy.

Karter still loves to put money in his piggy. He likes to stand on our bed to look at the top of the dresser to see if Daddy has left any change up there. One morning this week, Gramaw cleaned out her purse and left a huge pile of change on the table for Karter and Kaden to put in their banks. As soon as Karter came downstairs, before we said anything to him about the money, he said that he had to put that money in his bank. DO NOT leave money laying around him, he will definitely take it!

Kaden's piggy bank is much larger than Karter's, but no nearly as full. We were a little late in the game at getting Kaden's piggy bank. We actually just got it with a little birthday money that he got from Papaw Kenny. This was the first time he has been able to put his own money in, and I think he enjoyed it just as much as Karter.

Karter was keeping a pretty close eye on how much Kaden was getting, and making sure he didn't have more than him. He was quick to let Kaden have the pennies!! I'm glad that the boys are learning about saving their money. Let's hope they remember this when they actually learn what money is!!

Sweet Treats

Last Saturday we had a wedding shower for Kyler and Kara. While Kara's sister, Kelli, was the mastermind behind the whole party, I did help out a little. I used the shower as the perfect excuse to try a few new things and be creative! Kelli picked out the pink and brown decorations she wanted to use, and I made these beautiful, simple invitations to match.

Terry and I were going to order a cake from Costco when she got the brilliant idea that we I could make the cake. I was really excited about planning and executing something I hadn't ever done before. Thank goodness for the Internet...I watched a lot of videos on how to make my icing smooth!!

This was my first tiered cake, and the first one that was for someone other than my boys. How picky can a 2 and 1 year old be, but a lot of people were going to see this cake! Overall, I was very pleased with this cake, I learned a lot and had a lot of fun in the process.

A few months ago on one of the baking blogs I read, I saw wedding cake cookies and I just knew I had to make some. Back then I didn't know who to make them for, but then when we started planning the shower I thought they would make the perfect favor. To go along with the cakes, I also made some daises.

On a different cookie blog, I saw a Scrabble board awhile back and knew it would be perfect for my favorite Scrabble loving couple!

The heart should have probably been in a different place for the photo and I should practice piping letters a little more...but overall I love the look of them!!
Kyler and Kara, I hope that you had fun at your shower! And Kelli, thanks for letting me help out!

Three Random Videos

This video was taken a few weeks ago, but I had to share. At the beginning it is typical Karter...being dramatic about something, and at the end it turns into a typical wrestling match in the living room. Kaden has gotten much better at walking since this video was taken.

Kaden is getting so smart and everyday he understands more and more of what we are saying. Late last week I rotated the toys and got back out our piggy bank, in no time Kaden had mastered putting the coins into the bank! Karter is talking about pixie dust because he has been watching a new cartoon called Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

This last video illustrates a typical night when papaw gets home from work. Kaden has Papaw wrapped around his chubby little finger, and as soon as Kaden hears his voice he takes off towards Papaw begging him to pick him up. It works for him...Papaw usually carries him around wherever he goes!! Kaden loves Papaw, and I think Papaw loves him too!!

Pants Optional!?

Diaper changes have always been a challenge with Kaden, but now that he is a full fledged toddler, forget about it!! One day this week before nap I was changing a rather nasty one and was just pleased I got him to sit lay still long enough to get him cleaned up! When he was clean I didn't have time to reach for the new diaper before he was off to see what Karter was up to.

I thought they were playing so nice...and they were so stinkin' cute, so I grabbed the camera before I wrestled him back to the ground!

I had to add this one...Kaden is obsessed with his "peeps". Sometimes that is the only way he will lay still, he will find it and start laughing....ALL BOY!!

He was struttin' his stuff...

...and this is what happened when I finally put a diaper on him again...he likes to go pantless!
