A Cute Boy & His Blue Sucker

Grandma Terry & Papaw Kim sent Karterman a few treats for Halloween. Yesterday afternoon I let him loose with one of the suckers and he was in heaven! I took quite a few pictures of him during the process, here are just a few...

He was really going to town on the sucker, but then he discovered he could use his teeth to bite it. Every time he took a bite I made him spit it out so he wouldn't choke, so he quickly learned to not take bites because he didn't like giving mommy any of his sucker!!

The card the suckers came with was and even bigger hit, and I definitely heard the Monster Mash ALL afternoon! Grandma and Papaw totally got their moneys worth out of this card...Uncle Kamaron would be proud!

Here he is showing daddy his dance moves...he gets a little crazy when he plays with dad!

Sharing Toys

Neither Karter or Jonah are very good at sharing toys, especially when the toy involved is either Elmo or Jonah's big truck. On Saturday morning after breakfast, we quickly learned that we needed to teach the boys a little something about sharing. Neither of them were will to let the other one have complete control of Jonah's big truck, so we had to come to some sort of compromise. The result....was great, Jonah enjoys riding on the truck and Karter really enjoys pushing things around!! Next step, teaching them how to steer!

Weekend in Chicago Part 2 of 2: Family Day

We had a very action packed day on Saturday with Jake, Joscelynn and Jonah. Our day started out much like Friday, with letting the boys take their morning naps before we headed out. They had planned for us to go down to Lincoln Park and visit the Nature Museum and Zoo. Lincoln Park is their old neighborhood, so they picked us out a delicious little place to have lunch, Aloha Grill, that serves traditional Hawaiian plate lunches...Mmmm!

We were able to get into the Nature Museum for free because it is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It was a fun place for 2 little boys to explore while it was damp outside.

Since it was a "nature museum", there were a lot of fun creatures to check out.

There was even an indoor play place...

...and of course the slide was a HUGE hit!

Our last stop in the museum was the butterfly garden. I have only been to three butterfly gardens in my life, but this one was hands down the best one!

While we were in the museum the weather cleared up and we actually got to see the sun! It was perfect fall weather and we took advantage of it by checking out a little bit of the zoo.

Of course the monkeys were the boys favorite part...the real ones and the ones made of bronze!

Jake didn't want the little boys to out do him, so he decided to have his picture taken with the the monkey too.

The gorillas were huge and a little intimidating! Jake wanted to see how he compared in size.

After our fun day out, we went back to their house and relaxed for awhile while Jake made dinner. Karter and Jonah liked playing/climbing on daddy/Uncle Kristoffer.

Kristoffer had gotten some carving kits from work and we thought it would be fun to carve up some pumpkins with Jake and Jos. So after the boys were in bed we got down to business.

Kristoffer was all business the whole time!

I had to carve quickly to ensure that Team Gray finished first. Who know that carving pumpkins could be turned into a contest!

The pumpkins turned out really cool (ours is on the left and theirs is on the right), and was the perfect ending to a great day.

On Sunday I thought we were just going to go to church and out to lunch before heading home, so I didn't bother bringing my camera along. Bad choice! Jake didn't tell us before heading out that our restaurant was going to be right across the street from Harpo Studio...as in where The Oprah Winfrey Show is taped! Kristoffer and I were surprised at the neighborhood the studio was in and wished we had our camera to document it.

We had the best time in Chicago and loved spending time with our favorite Tomaw's! Thank you so much Jake & Joscelynn for your hospitality and we can't wait to see you soon.

Weekend in Chicago Part 1 of 2: A Day With the Boys

Thursday night we loaded up our car and headed to Chicago to visit our favorite Tomaw's! During the day on Friday Jake and Joscelynn both had to work, so we had Jonah all day and got to picture what our life is going to be like with 2 little boys running around.

After the boys morning naps and a quick lunch, we decided to be tourists and head downtown for the afternoon. This was our first time taking the train in almost 3 years and the first time without Jake telling us where to go, so we were a little nervous about getting it right, but we successfully made it to our destination without any problems!

Don't let Karter's scared face make you think he didn't like the train, he had fun the whole time.

Our first stop was Michigan Avenue. Not that we were there to actually shop, we just like to people watch and take in the sights.

The first store we went into was the Hershey's store...

...where Kristoffer decided to have a light snack.

Of course with two little guys, the Disney Store was a big hit!

This piece of artwork seemed a little out of place downtown.

After being strapped in their strollers for a couple of hours, Karter and Jonah were itching to get out of their strollers and stretch their legs. So we stopped at Millennium Park to let them free.

The bean is a big hot spot for tourists to have their pictures taken.

All of my boys thought it was pretty cool to see themselves in the bean.

Cousins holding hands!

After the bean the boys weren't too eager to get back in their strollers, so Karter tried to distract us by chasing a bird around.

He watched it for a long time trying to decide how he was going to catch it, thankfully he never did!

This happened a lot, both of them LOVE to chase each other!

Yeah, maybe crawling through water isn't the best idea.

By the time we were done exploring the park, Jos was getting off work. We walked over to her building and she gave us the grand tour (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of her office). From her office, we walked down to Jake's building, but he was still in a meeting so we had for him to get done (who has a meeting from 4-5 on a Friday!). We waited for Jake in the food court of his building, and Kristoffer got tempted by Cinnabon and decided to get us all a treat while we waited.

Karter liked the icing more than the roll itself!

Kristoffer wasn't quite full from our sweet treat, so he decided to have a little Karterman!

Karter loves it when daddy gets him!

When Jake was done with his meeting, he gave us the grand tour of his office. After our tour we walked to one of the best pizza places, Gino's East, and filled out bellies with delicious Chicago style pizza. We made it back to their house in time to give the boys a quick bath, before all of the days walking caught up to us and we fell asleep!

Check back tomorrow for our fun Saturday with the Tomaw's!
