Fishing with Daddy

This year we celebrated Memorial Day like few other people...we got up early and butchered 37 chickens. I know, try not to be too jealous!! Kristoffer had promised Karter if he was good for cousin Paige while we worked, they could go fishing afterwards.

Karter was pretty excited to go fishing for the first time.

After Kristoffer taught him some of the basics, he let Karter hold the pole for awhile.

What a big boy!

I took Kaden around to the front of Papaw Kenny's house, while Karter and Daddy did their fishing. After awhile I heard Karter yelling for me, and saying he had something to show me. He was so proud of his first catch! ( I LOVE this picture!!!)

Not bad for his first time!

He wasn't so sure about actually touching the fish. He said it was "too wiggly".

Two other times I heard my sweet boy calling my name, eager to show me his latest catch. On the third fish he was extra excited, because Daddy let him cast the line for that one. What a special time between Karter and Daddy!!

Random Recap

Finding the time to post lately has been a challenge. Usually during nap time I have other project I am working on (cookies or work for the church)...or some times I just want to relax and catch up on the DVR. Although finding the time is a struggle, coming up with material isn't! When you have two cutie pies running around, there is always something to talk about!! Here is a picture filled post of our last few weeks...

We have been on a spending spree of sorts. In one day we bought a new van and replaced almost everything we lost in our old one. Thankfully, our insurance was great and they worked hard to get our money to us so we could go out and replace our old stuff...but it was still tough spending so much in one day!! Well, ok it wasn't that tough, but it will be hard to swallow when we get our credit card statement!

After we got the new van, the first thing we needed to get were new car seats. We are still very loyal to Target, but the Target's around here just don't compare to what we are used to. We went on our shopping spree at a Super in Indy and their car seat selection was minimal...as in maybe half an aisle. We really wanted to just buy two car seats like Karter's old one, now that Kaden is big enough for that kind of seat, but they didn't carry that kind. However, they did have the Graco Nautilus, which I have been eyeing every since Jonah got one a couple years ago. It is a super nice seat, they had two of them and it was on sale (or so I thought).

My early bird Kado was up the morning I was putting them together and he seemed to really enjoy his new seat!

When Karter woke up, he had to have his morning milk in his new seat too....I'm not sure why he has Kaden's milk.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why does Karter look so happy? Oh that is because he just mixed two of his favorite things....eating icing when mommy is making cookies (see the red on his check) and watching cartoons in the morning!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The bathrooms upstairs are not the best place to try to take a picture, but I couldn't resist watching Karter brush his teeth. He is getting really good at it, and just this week he has started using "daddy's toothpaste". He is a very good spitter, so we thought it was safe to move him to real toothpaste.

Just look at those eyes...he is loving being carried by Daddy!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
L.A.Z.Y. Our dog is the laziest dog in the world. This is how he can be found pretty much any time throughout the day...unless of course someone is coming over, and then he has to act crazy!
He hates it when we disturb his slumber, but we think it is funny!
We know why he escapes to the upstairs...he trying to hid from Mr. Destructo, I mean Kado!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

How cute is that!? One day this week Kaden just started walking like that. He stands like that too, and I don't even think he notices what he is doing.

What a cutie!!!

Of course, Karter saw me taking pictures of Kaden and had to do the same thing. He is really in a phase now that if Kaden does something and gets attention (positive or negative), has has to do it too. It is very frustrating, because the things he does he clearly knows he should not be doing.

But sometimes he is stinkin' cute when he does! Karter is looking so big lately, how is he going to be 3 in just a few weeks!?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kaden has all kinds of personality!! He can go from sweet as can be to through a crazy tantrum and back again in the blink of an eye. He can be summed up in one word...dramatic!! But oh man, does this little guy melt my heart!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Brothers! These two are two of the loviest little guys, they are always huggin' and moochin' on somebody! Karter likes to sneak up on Kaden and give him a hug, and then announce to the world that he just gave Kade a hug.

Kaden likes to sneak up on Karter too, but most of the time it is to wrestle him!

Kaden is tough! We always say "it's all fun and games, until Kaden doesn't get his way!" He likes to do things on his own terms, and if it doesn't happen the way he thinks it should he let's us all know!

Our boys keep me on my toes...and fill me heart and life with lots of love and joy!!

Our Other New Ride

The same day that we bought our new van, we also purchased another new ride...a bike trailer for the boys. We have always wanted a bike trailer so we could use our bikes more, so with our anniversary the next day, we decided to get it as our gift to each other.

Last week, when it finally stopped raining for a day, Kristoffer got everything assembled and we loaded up the boys to set out on our maiden voyage.

We have only been out a few times, but hopefully the weather will clear and we will be able to go on rides "around the block" every night. We are really enjoying our present and being able to get outside!!

His God Given Talent

Karter is a singer! He is always singing...sometimes they are real songs, and other times he just makes up his own words. On Sunday, our church had its annual talent show. We weren't sure we were even going to go, but after church some people were in the sanctuary practicing when I heard Karter's voice coming over the loud speaker. He was proudly holding a microphone and belting out "Jesus Loves Me".

He was so proud of himself and the few people in the room were clapping...he clearly loved being on stage. So that answered whether or not we were going to the talent show. Not only did we go, but Karter was the second act. He was going to sing two songs, but at the last minute he changed up his set and only sang one...the best fight song in the world...the IU fight song!

He did AMAZING! What a little ham!

We had a little technical difficulties during the show, and weren't able to record Karter's performance. However, Karter decided to have a repeat performance for us when we got home...actually, he has been singing it ALL. DAY. LONG!!

What a little performer...

New Wheels - Woo Hoo!!!

On Friday, it was time for us to get back on the bandwagon. Apparently, people nowadays rely more on these motorized buggies to transport themselves. After our previous buggy went up in smoke, we needed to join the rest of society and purchase one of these new doo-hickeys - or vehicles, as I believe they are called.

"Daddy...why are you so weird? And where is our new van?"

"Daddy...why are you still so weird? And...I want some food. Yeah - some food. And a new van!"

I was focused...poised to use my sheer negotiation skills to maximize our savings. This is the look of a focused buggy purchaser. "No...I don't want your 'extended warranty.' Yes...I will take an extra $2k off of the price, thank you very much. And yes...you will drive 40 miles to pick up the exact color my beautiful wife wants. Boo yah." I'm all business...before...

Sheer joy! Look, ma, no hands!! We got a new 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan - in charcoal.

Holla!

We have enjoyed our new van...I'm sure there will be more posts to come. I hope you enjoyed my guest post...I'll let Dana take over the reigns of the blog - and the buggy - for a while.

Celebrating 6 Amazing Years

This past weekend was a full 3 days of fun and exciting things, but I am going to jump right into the best part...Saturday, Kristoffer and I celebrated our anniversary!! Six years ago we stood outside my childhood church and posed for some pictures by the church's huge lilac bush...

...six years later we had to pose by some of the beautiful lilacs in our backyard!

Kristoffer had to work in the morning, but left early and after the boys were down for a nap we loaded up the (new) van and headed to Indy for an afternoon/evening of some quality time for the two of us. Kim and Terry were gracious enough to watch the boys all afternoon so we could enjoy our time together!

This was our first date in quite some time, so we were both super excited to go out together!

Kristoffer was busy at home and didn't get a chance to grab anything for lunch, so we swung by BK so he could get a sandwich.

Kristoffer had planned our day, and our first stop was the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

We saw a lot of interesting pieces of art...

Who's that hunk in the new shades?! As much as we enjoyed the museum, our favorite part was the Lily House and Garden. The Lily House is a 1920's 22 room mansion that belonged to the Lily family.

The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens, but unfortunately we didn't get to explore them too much because it started to rain.

After the museum we headed over to Keystone to do some shopping, we wanted to replace a few things that were lost in the accident. It was the first time in a LONG time that I had gone shopping without my two sidekicks, and man was it a lot easier to pick things out! For dinner we went to P.F. Chang's...what a delicious meal! I had a great time spending the some alone time with Kristoffer and actually being able to carry on a conversation, but I really did miss the boys!! I'm so thankful for my amazing husband and had a great time celebrating our 6 years together, and am looking forward to seeing what God has planned for us!
