Kaden's 1st Birthday Party Part 1

Our precious boy turned one last week, and on Saturday we had most of our family over to celebrate his first year!

The planning for his party started months ago. I love it when it is one of the boy's birthday's, it is the perfect excuse to be crafty and bake up some yummy treats. The first thing I made for the party was the Cookie Monster invitations...

....I was really happy with the way they turned out!

I spent the last part of the week in the kitchen baking lots of sweet treats for the party. Since Kaden's party was brought to you by the letter K and the number 1, I made some cute cookies as party favors.

After the cookies were finished it was time to start on the Cookie cake and cupcakes.

No first birthday is complete without a smash cake for the birthday boy!

Saturday morning it was time to get the decorations up. I made this banner to hang in the window....

...and this cute picture banner. It was SO cute to see how Kaden changed each month!

Unfortunately mother nature was not on our side this week, and on top of the 2 inches of ice we got several inches of snow on Saturday. Not only did the weather keep some people from making the trip over, but it also kept our sidewalks and driveway pretty slippery. In the enter way I had the cookie favors set up, but we didn't actually use the front door!

The food spread was out and it was time for the party to begin! On the menu we had ham & cheese sandwiches, potato salad, fruit & dip, veggies & dip, and chips.

Everyone gathered around the table...

...and Kristoffer lead us in a word of prayer.

Per our family tradition, Kaden got to enjoy his dinner on our "Special Day" plate!

Karter was excited to have Jonah at his house!

After dinner it was present time! Kaden is still a bit young to get that into opening his own presents. Luckily he has a big brother and cousin willing and able to help....

Jonah and Karter were great at "helping" Kaden open each gift!

We got Kaden is own racetrack, so after that was opened, the older boys went to play with it leaving Kaden to open his own gifts.

He finally got the hang of it...with a little help from Daddy!

Kaden loves to wallow on the pillows, so Gramaw T and Papaw got Kaden his own pillow..."It's a pillow and it's a pet!"

After presents it was time for the cake! Kaden saw the cake coming and he made sure to keep an eye on his food!

"Happy Birthday"

The whole smash cake didn't go as expected, because Kaden touched the candle right after we blew it out and hurt his finger. Poor guy!!

I thought maybe a little icing would help him...but no!

Poor babe!

Big brother tried to calm him down, and Kaden wanted to make sure the blue stuff was safe before he ate it!

Maybe this isn't so bad...

...MMMM!!
Daddy got him a spoon and then he was loving the cake!

Digging in!

Blue icing EVERYWHERE!!!

We had a great time celebrating Kaden's birthday, and thank you to all who helped make his day so special. Check back later this week for more party pics!!

Dana should go into business planning parties and decorating cakes! She's so talented...and it was great fun, even though the weather was nasty outside. What a sweet little one-year-old!
